JOB DESCRIPTION — TEACHER

Role Overview:

PSM invites applications from qualified, motivated, and committed individuals for the position of Teacher across a range of subject areas including Urdu, English, Mathematics, Science, Islamiat, Arabic, and Early Years / Kindergarten. The successful candidate will be a reflective educator who is passionate about student achievement and dedicated to creating an inclusive, stimulating, and values-driven learning environment.

The Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons, assessing and monitoring student progress, and contributing actively to the broader life of the school. This role is central to PSM’s mission of academic excellence and holistic development.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Plan, prepare, and deliver well-structured, engaging, and curriculum-aligned lessons across the assigned subject and grade levels
  2. Create an inclusive, safe, and stimulating classroom environment where every learner feels valued and is empowered to achieve
  3. Use a range of effective teaching strategies and differentiated approaches to meet the diverse needs, abilities, and learning styles of students
  4. Set, mark, and provide meaningful feedback on classwork, homework, and assessments in a timely and constructive manner
  5. Monitor, track, and report on student progress through formative and summative assessments, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records
  6. Use student performance data to identify learning gaps, set measurable targets, and drive timely, results-oriented interventions that improve academic outcomes
  7. Prepare students thoroughly for internal, board, and competitive examinations relevant to the subject area
  8. Foster the development of critical thinking, creativity, independent learning, and strong study habits in students
  9. Promote Islamic values, positive character traits, and the school’s ethos in all classroom interactions and school activities
  10. Communicate proactively and professionally with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behaviour, and wellbeing
  11. Collaborate effectively with colleagues, Heads of Department, and school leadership on curriculum planning, moderation, and school initiatives
  12. Participate actively in staff meetings, professional development programmes, parent-teacher meetings, and school events
  13. Contribute to co-curricular activities, competitions, clubs, and enrichment programmes in line with the school’s extracurricular calendar
  14. Maintain classroom resources, displays, and learning materials to a high standard
  15. Uphold the school’s policies on safeguarding, student welfare, code of conduct, and data confidentiality at all times
Qualification & Skill Required:

Academic & Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education or in the relevant subject discipline (e.g. B.Ed., M.Ed., BS, MA, MSc)
  • A recognised teaching qualification or professional certification is required
  • Minimum 2–3 years of classroom teaching experience at primary or secondary level
  • Candidates with Early Years / Kindergarten experience should hold a qualification in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a related field. Montessori Diploma is preferable.
  • For English teachers TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is preferable
  •  

Subject Knowledge & Pedagogical Skills

  • Strong subject knowledge in the relevant discipline with the ability to make content engaging, relevant, and accessible
  • Familiarity with modern pedagogical approaches including differentiated instruction, formative assessment, and student-centred learning
  • Ability to align teaching with national curriculum standards and board examination syllabi
  • Proficiency in integrating educational technology and digital tools to enhance classroom learning
  • For language subjects (Urdu, Arabic, English): excellent command of the target language, both written and spoken
  • For Islamiat: strong knowledge of Quran, Hadith, Seerah, and Islamic jurisprudence with the ability to contextualise learning for young students
  • For Early Years / KG: specialist knowledge of child development theory and experience with play-based, inquiry-based learning frameworks
  • For Science: experience with laboratory safety procedures and hands-on practical experiment facilitation

Personal & Professional Competencies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Urdu and/or Arabic is an advantage
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills with the ability to maintain a positive and productive learning environment
  • Ability to build strong, respectful, and supportive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • A reflective practitioner committed to continuous professional growth and improvement
  • Collaborative team player who contributes positively to the wider school community
  • Culturally sensitive and able to work effectively within a diverse, multicultural school environment
